How does the System Work?
You step onto the path to the Behavior Change System with a 90-minute initial consultation with Ashley Foster. Initial Sessions are completed virtually or at our Fort Collins, CO, or Laramie, WY, facility.
This 90-minute session is designed to gain a deeper understanding of your dog, their behavior, and your life together and includes:
A thorough intake to obtain your dog’s history, outlining their behavior challenges, understanding how their behavior impacts you, and other details to help paint the picture of your life with your dog(s).
Evaluation of their behavior challenges and identification of the behaviors’ underlying function (cause).
A prognosis to provide an honest assessment and outcomes for your dog and your family.
Education to help you understand your dog and their behaviors.
A written foundational management and foundation behavior protocol.
A forecast of your behavior modification journey, including the time and resources needed to support you and your dog’s progress.
By the end of this session, you’ll have a clear roadmap for moving forward and the clarity to choose the next step on your path that fits your level of need and desired support. While you will gain useful insight in your initial session, consistency is key, and a minimum engagement of at least one additional consulting package (The Mentored Quest, The Guided Tour, or The Trek) is highly recommended to start to experience behavior change in your dog.

Choose The Path Forward In The Behavior Change Journey ~
Since your dog's behavior concerns likely developed over time, it will take time to resolve them. We also understand that addressing canine behavior challenges can feel overwhelming and exhausting. That's why we provide a manageable and flexible approach to follow-up sessions to keep you and your dog on the path to successful behavior change.
The most current research shows that it takes humans at least 21 days to begin forming a new habit—more commonly, it takes around 66 days or longer. Implementing real behavior change in a dog requires not only the dog's participation but also consistent engagement from the human partner. We've found that the key to success lies in consistent coaching, open communication, and timely feedback, all of which provide the structure and resources necessary to help you help your dog.
Our exclusive behavior solution system offers three tiers of consulting packages designed to give you and your dog the time and dedication you need to experience genuine, lasting behavior change.

Taking dogs from a place of absolute fear to calm.
To watch our dog come down from a place of absolute fear to calmly accepting treats and following simple commands from a stranger has been absolutely amazing, and it's all thanks to Ashley's expertise. We have recommended Ashely and Dogs by Foster to several friends, and will continue doing so!

Highly recommend.
We thought we were at a loss with our 2-year-old heeler mix with several bites. She observes your dog and can get to know him and his strengths and insecurities. She gives you things to work on at home. She gives you tips and pointers on the areas of concern. She follows up if you have any questions or concerns.

Best behaviorist.
Ashley is by far the best behaviorist and dog trainer in town. Extremely knowledgeable, explains things in very understandable terms, and her positive reinforcement techniques have consistent results. I really value her work and the curriculum and tools she has created.

The fear aggression is gone.
I learned a lot about how to solve all the problems my little pup was starting to have. He had fear aggression and was very destructive, but that is all gone with the help of Dogs by Foster.

And in rare incidence that your dog is not capable of behavior change, we will ensure to not give false hope or promises, but rather we will give your honest assessments, options and support to help you navigate.

-
I use evidence-based, positive reinforcement strategies rooted in science and compassion. The focus is on understanding the root causes of behavior and building trust and emotional safety for your dog—never methods or tools that illicit fear, discomfort, pain, or intimidation.
-
Absolutely. I specialize in complex cases, including fear, reactivity, and aggression. My approach is humane, safe, and tailored to the unique needs of both you and your dog. If your dog has a bite history to other animals or people, I will do some additional screening to ensure that I am the right fit for you and you dog.
-
While I can not and will not guarantee specific outcomes (no ethical behavior consultant can), I can promise a deep commitment to guiding you toward success. Your dog’s progress depends on their previous experiences, genetic tendencies, innate nature as well as consistency, time, and your dedication—but I’ll be with you every step of the way.
