Behavior consulting

Behavior Consultations are available in person or virtually with Ashley Foster B.S., CBCC-KA, Founder and Lead Consultant of Dogs by Foster. With three decades of professional experience, Ashley provides a professional and compassionate experience to provide effective behavior solutions while supporting you on your path.

Our Behavior Program is more than just training; it's true behavior modification which looks at the whole picture, and that takes a deep dive to get to the core of your dog's behavior challenges to fully understand your dog, you, and how your dog's behavior impacts your life.

We believe that to change behavior successfully, you HAVE to address and change the emotional state at the core of that behavior so the dog and the humans can be in an improved state, allowing for functional, learned skills to surface.

we get dogs and their people.

Effective and innovative behavior change plans

This gives you individualized protocols that focus first on changing your dog's emotional state and teaching functional and appropriate behaviors to replace the undesired behaviors.

  • We are a professional service committed to helping people help their dogs. We also greatly value our professional consultant's time, energy, and commitment that they bring to the table with every client and dog they work with. To best accommodate our clients and the well-being of our consultants, we have found that commitment to the process is one of the most integral components. We know that our consultants are committed to the process! Therefore, by asking for a commitment from our clients from the start, we set all parties up for success.

Additionally, our services are in high demand, and everyone's schedules are tight. This dynamic makes filling in last-minute cancellations difficult and is detrimental to our consultants.

  • The honest answer… it varies. It varies on the dog, the complexity of behaviors, and the time and commitment from the humans. We aim to provide behavioral resolution in the most effective and efficient ways possible. While some clients may achieve results in an initial session, we know consistency is the key to successful behavior change for dogs and humans. This means most dogs will need continued support sessions to help guide and progress your dog's behavior plan. We do not offer extended packages because we don't feel it is ethical to say that we need to do 4, 6, 8, 12, or more sessions with your dog without knowing how they adapt and progress with each behavior plan. Instead, we created Our Monthy Commitment Program, which aims to guide and assist you in integrating behavior modification into your life so you can learn to help your dog(s) most efficiently and effectively. We know this service may not be the best fit for all our clients, so we will continue offering pay-as-you-go behavior consultations. We provide ample information, education, and exercises in every session to keep you and your dog progressing without being overwhelmed – regardless if you participate In the Monthy Commitment Program or Pay-as-you-go.

  • The monthly commitment program consists of weekly contacts over 30 days to ensure you have an olive branch to access when your questions arise.

Day one: a one-hour session to evaluate progress and develop a plan for exercises and goals to focus on for the next two weeks.

Day 7: Video review and email to provide feedback and make suggestions

Day 14:  a one-hour session to evaluate progress and adjust and modify the plan to focus on for the next two weeks.

Day 21: Video review and email to provide feedback and make suggestions.

Day 28-30: Monthly review via video/email to evaluate progress, make suggestions and plan adjustments, and determine the next steps.

Pay-as-you-go clients receive thirty days of email support with each paid session. If you need more support than email, we also offer phone check-ins (billed at 15 mins.) for clients in the 30-day post-appointment window. For clients post the 30-day mark, you are welcome to set up a continued support session or a virtual/phone session billed at the stated rates.

  • We have a variety of basic training, both group and private, and a variety of boutique-style group classes that cover basic manners and obedience and some more advanced skills, such as recall training and trick training. You can email us at doghelp@live.com to request additional information about these services.
